The Superpower Quartet is part of a larger body of work using bodybuilders as a symbol for the US foreign policy in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The bodybuilders, both male and female, embody gigantic, brutal, but empty strength. The mesomorphic body is at once grotesque and beautiful and is regarded with ambivalence, as the US is now regarded by the rest of the world.
